The farm-house itself , and some of the farm buildings date from as early
as 1684. Cattle and sheep graze the fields around the site. The farm still
raises some Herdwick sheep; a breed which is hardy enough to withstand
the rigours of winters on the Lakeland fells.
Springtime brings its crop of lambs, and calves will often be seen throughout
the season. Visitors may catch a glimpse of a red squirrel or two in the
trees along the site.
